Do you want to pray to become a Christian?

Pray this prayer:
Dear Lord,
Thank you for dying on the cross for my sin. I admit I am a sinner and ask you to take control of my life. Thank you for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Help me to become the kind of person you want me to become as I grow as a Christian.
In Jesus’ Name, Amen

Dr. Jim
degreeI am writing this in the cool mountain air, listening to the thunder rumble all around me. It was 42 degrees cooler when I came up to Pine Summit yesterday after leaving my home in the 106 degree heat. As I traveled up the mountain, the relief was not only in the cooler temperatures, but that I  had just completed my doctoral program and passed my oral exam for my dissertation. It feels good to accomplish something that took so long to finish. I now have my Doctor of Ministry and something more to put after my name. Wow, I thought I would never get done. It took me two years to finish my dissertation, eight years to finish my doctoral program.

Now I have a little break in my schedule. I don't have to think, "I should be working on my paper instead of watching a movie." I won't have this doctoral thing hanging over me. I am done. It feels good. I'll start something else soon, but right now, I am taking a break. It's nice that God gives us these breaks every once in awhile. Jesus, because so many people were coming and going that the disciples did not even have a chance to eat, said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." (Mark 6:31)

Welcome to CB Southern California

The Conservative Baptist Association of Southern California started in 1954 as an association of churches and ministries coming together to defend and promote the gospel of Jesus Christ. We continue to establish, encourage and strengthen churches throughout Southern California, Hawaii and Guam. CB Southern California focuses on three areas: Leadership Develop, Church Health and Church Planting.  If you would like to help us help churches, donate by clicking the button on the right. Area Pastors' Gatherings Starting in September
Each month CB provides area meetings for Pastors and their staff to get together for a time of encouragement, fellowship and training. Each group is unique and we strongly urge all staff members that are close to these meetings to make it a priority to get there. We have three Pastors of large churches willing to invest time and energy to help other Pastors in their ministry.

Rialto Group - Wednesday, September 1, Sunrise Church, 12:00 p.m. -1:30 p.m. This month they are Charting the Course for the coming year. Pastor Jay Pankratz wants YOU to come with some ideas about what you would like to see happen each month. Mentoring? Prayer and Share? Fellowship?

Whittier Group - The Pastor meetings with Pastor Robert Bishop will resume on Tuesday, September 21st from 11:30 to 1 p.m. at Whittier Hills Baptist Church. Please RSVP to nancyn@whittierhills.org. It will be the 3rd Tuesday of the month unless otherwise stated.

Oceanside Group - This group will be training in sessions especially geared towards church health and growth. Pastor Hal Seed will lead this group at New Song in Oceanside once a month, from Sept. - June. They will skip Dec. and Apr. to focus on Christmas and Easter. These sessions will run from 10 - 11:30 a.m. The cost is based on church size.
